This beautiful and different plant is a real "sensory plant". When you touch the leaves of the plant, it's almost like touching the softest kind of velvet. The long and slender leaves have a deep-green colour on the top and on the back of the leaves is the most beautiful burgundy color.
If you like to play around with your décor and have plants that add something truly unique, then Velvet Calathea is a really good choice.
Botanical name: Calathea rufibarba
Watering: A Velvet Calathea prefers being watered at regular intervals when the top 1-2 cm of soil starts to dry out. Note: During the winter period, your plant will not need water as often.
Location: This plant actually lends itself really well to a slightly darker locations where the sun can't reach it. So if you can find a free corner in an otherwise bright room, it will probably be the perfect location for your Velvet Calathea.
Temperature: Velvet Calathea thrives at room temperature between 15-30 °C. It doesn't tolerate cold temperatures, so don't place it where it's exposed to cool air from open doors and windows.
