The Alocasia zebrina has been given the common name "Zebra plant" because of its characteristic pattern of black and white. The great triangular leaves has a deep green colour, that contrast beautifully with the matte and slender stem. If you want a plant that stands out from the rest, choose a Zebra plant.
Botanical name: Alocasia zebrina
Watering: A Zebra plant prefers slightly moist soil at all times. Water your plant often, but only add a little bit of water at a time and your zebra plant couldn't ask for more. Beware of overwatering as it will kill a zebra plant very quickly. Therefore always check with a finger whether the soil is dry two centimeters in. Is the soil still moist, postpone watering a few days.
Location: A Zebra plant needs a bright location of indirect sunlight. Put it close to a window to make sure it gets enough light to grow, but never leave it in direct sunlight as the leaves might be sun damaged and it will be difficult to keep the soil from drying out to much.
Temperature: Put your Zebra plant at temperatures between 15-30 °C.
